During the long lane of the history yet to be written, America knows that this world of ours, ever growing smaller, must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect. Such a confederation must be one of equals. The weakest must come to the conference table with the same confidence as do we, protected as we are by our moral, economic, and military strength. That table, though scarred by many past frustrations, cannot be abandoned for the certain agony of the battlefield.

Disarmament, with mutual honor and confidence, is a continuing imperative. Together we must learn how to compose differences, not with arms, but with intellect and decent purpose. Because this need is so sharp and apparent, I confess that I lay down my official responsibilities in this field with a definite sense of disappointment. Happily, I can say that war has been avoided. Steady progress toward our ultimate goal has been made. But so much remains to be done. As a private citizen, I shall never cease to do what little I can to help the world advance along that road.

So, in this my last good night to you as your President, I thank you for the many opportunities you have given me for public service in war and in peace. I trust that in that service you find some things worthy. As for the rest of it, I know you will find ways to improve performance in the future.

广州JUNE的来信（一箱图书也已经收到了！），里面的几个问题在这里一并回答了：

1、我是希望能收到一些日本漫画，因为我认为大部分日本漫画画工很好，剧情也十分了得，我个人就是看鸟山明和北条司长大的。你不能单纯因为不喜欢日本就否定日本漫画，就如同你遇到一个日本美女，不能仅仅因为她是日本人就否认她漂亮。这也正是我认为民族主义最愚蠢的地方。

 2、这里的中小学同样要放暑假，时间大约是从7月中旬到8月中旬，这期间我大概会在德钦、冈仁波切和喀纳斯三地中的某两处，所以如果有来旅行或路过的提前打个招呼吧，现在天气已经很暖和了。我的MSN是tongdoubook@hotmail.com

我们这里不通铁路，就是说从西宁到拉萨的青藏铁路不经过我们这里。青海是个巨大的地方，但对很多人来说，这是个地理概念上的巨大盲点，呵呵，巨大的。

今天终于将唐卡换成了电视，呵呵，感谢厦门的苏斌先生。他把29寸的松下彩电卖给了当地二手回收（只卖了350元），然后共汇给了我1500元用于在本地（青海同仁）购买一台新的电视。同时，我也已将唐卡寄出。另外他还用N多文具交换了朴树的签名CD。 再次感谢，祝阖家安康！

其他正在准备交换的物品包括：

X-BOX换PS2，虽然这台X-BOX是05年的产品，但价值应该还是在1500元左右，到目前为止还是没找到非常适用又等值的物品。一体机虽好，但也仅值800元左右……还有个惠普照片打印机＋扫描仪，但喷墨的照片打印机用处不大，而且墨盒难买，要是激光的黑白打印机就好了……所以，还是先换成PS2再继续换吧，希望换一个激光的黑白打印机加若干耗材，呵呵。

索尼MD打算换成葛书鸿先生的好记星，只是这东西无法像电脑一样谁来谁用，嗯……是不是还需要继续交换呢？
